Ambler joins the Rhinos

Leeds Rhinos have signed teenage prop forward Luke Ambler from Salford City Reds for a four-figure fee.nnThe Super League champions have agreed to pay the City Reds £12,000 for Ambler, who will turn 19 shortly.nnThe towering youngster, who can also play in the back row, was highly regarded at Salford but it is understood that the player was keen to return to his Yorkshire roots.nnBrian McClennan, the Rhinos coach, believes that Ambler will prove to be a useful signing for the club.nn”Luke is a young prop who will develop well in our system alongside senior players like Jamie Peacock and Kylie Leuluai,” said McClennan.nnAmbler could make his debut in the friendly match against Wakefield Wildcats on Boxing Day.nn”I am very pleased to be joining the Rhinos. I have spent the last three years at Salford but only played one game in the first team. Hopefully, I can repay the faith the club have shown in signing me,” revealed Ambler.nnMeanwhile, the Rhinos have taken four players on trial as they look to complete their 25-man squad for the 2009 Super League season.nnLeeds will run the rule over 21-year-old centre Mathieu Mayans, half-back Amar Sabri, 20, second-rower Mohamed Tamghart, 21, and 29-year-old Tongan prop Lamelangi Unaloto.
