Salford hooker Malcolm Alker is set to become the club’s new assistant following the departure of Scott Naylor.

The Reds confirmed that former player Naylor will leave the club in a coaching re-shuffle for the 2010 season, and his position is set to be filled by long-serving Alker.

Naylor, who played for the Reds in the mid 1990s, joined the club in 2004 as head coach of the Senior Academy before being appointed as Shaun McRae’s assistant for the 2009 season.

Director of Football Steve Simms said: “The Salford City Reds Board of Directors would like to thank Scott for all his hard work and service during his years here at Salford City Reds. We wish Scott all the best for the future.”

Alker, 30, has played his entire professional career at The Willows and enjoyed a testimonial year in 2006.
