Adrian Lam happy to see Wigan win ugly

Wigan coach Adrian Lam was pleased to see his side grind out a 30-16 victory against Hull KR.

The Warriors defeated the Robins 30-16 at the DW Stadium on Sunday afternoon to go top of the Super League table.

Lam said: “I knew it was going to be tough. We expected Hull KR to turn up like that and if you don’t start well, it’s game on.

“They gave themselves a good crack and I’ve just said in the dressing room I’m really proud of the players’ resilience.

“Sometimes you’ve got to win ugly games and last year we lost a few of those.

“When you give away the first try, it puts you straight on the back foot and I’m proud that they hung in there together.

“I wasn’t bothered about playing great today but wanted them playing as a team.

“Going two points clear is nice but we’ve got a lot of work to do and we’ve got to make sure our feet are grounded.”
