Adrian Lam “confused” about Wigan display in loss at Salford

Wigan coach Adrian Lam was confused with his side’s performance in their defeat at Salford.

The Warriors squandered a 14-2 lead at the break, with the Red Devils producing a stunning second half performance to win 18-14 at the AJ Bell Stadium on Friday night.

Lam said: “In the first half we played some of our best rugby of the season. I feel a bit confused about the performance really.

“I guess if there’s a lesson to be learned, it’s that we could have moved the ball a lot more but we took the foot off the accelerator.

“The players are really disappointed in the dressing room.

“For 50 minutes we were really solid then there were 30 minutes of scrambling.”

Asked about coronavirus and whether it was a distraction for the Wigan players, Lam said: “Who knows in a month or so where we’re going to be.

“We’re working hard to keep everyone healthy and our thoughts are with everyone around the world who are struggling with it.”
