Why do clubs announce their 19-man squads in alphabetical order? What is the point in squad numbers? Now, the point of announcing a 19-man squad is up for debate too, but please start making it easier to determine who’s missing by just displaying them in squad number order!

Americas 9s set for Toronto
Canada will host three fellow Americas teams at the inaugural Americas Nines Championship in May. Americas Championship stalwarts USA, Canada and Jamaica along with Emerging Nations side Latin Heat will compete across nine matches and four hours of action. The tournament will be held on Saturday, May 18 at Lamport Stadium, home to the Toronto Wolfpack with kick-off at 1pm. The Americas Nines will now take place every two years.

Kick-off in the Philippines
The third season of the Estepa Elefante Cup in the Philippines got underway last weekend. There was a 30-16 win for Manila Storm over Clark Brothers XIII following a thrilling 24-all draw between North Luzon and Cavite Tigers. 80 children were also taught the basics of the game in a coaching clinic earlier in the day.

New Widnes CEO
Phil Finney has been named as the new chief executive at Widnes. He was instrumental in keeping the club alive following their spell in administration recently, and has been heading up the Vikings impressive academy work over the past decade.
