Academy star lands Rovers deal

Hull KR have given 2008 Academy Player of the Year Scott Taylor a two-and-a-half year contract with the club.

The Hull-born youngster, 18, has been handed his first full time contract, making him one of the youngest players in Justin Morgan’s squad.

The Skirlaugh amateur said: “I love rugby league and I am so excited about committing to the club until the end of 2011. I’m really grateful to Justin Morgan and the opportunity that he has given me, which I will be making sure I make the most of.”

Arriving at Craven Park early last season, the combative second-row forward made his debut for the first team in two of Rovers pre-season friendlies, playing against both Batley Bulldogs and the York City Knights, impressing Morgan and his staff enough to earn himself a contract.

Head Coach Justin Morgan said: “Scott is a hard working player who has taken his opportunities when they have been presented. He has a great attitude for such a young player and it’s great to see such talent come through the ranks at this club.”
