The north eastern Scottish city of Aberdeen is preparing itself for the first rugby league derby to be held there.

On Saturday May 16 the Aberdeen Warriors will clash with the newly formed Bon Accord Bulls, who number some former Warriors in their ranks.

The Warriors will field a development squad, with some new players as young as 16 beginning to make their way through the club’s ranks.

“Its great to see a new team getting going in the city, it shows how much work has been put into the game and the good reputation it has been given by the players,” said Warriors head coach Craig Parslow.

“This weekend will be a test for our young players, as the Bulls are a new side with some former Warriors in the mix, along with Ray their coach who is a founding member of the Warriors.

“So they will know what to expect from us but we have no idea what to expect from them.

“They will be a tough bunch of lads who will want to prove their worth and hopefully some bright new talent will be on show we are looking forward to a great game.”

The game kicks off at 2pm, May 16, at Woodside Sports Complex in Aberdeen.
