13 years of Love Rugby League

James Gordon

At the end of September, Love Rugby League celebrated its 13th birthday.

Formed as Last Tackle back in 2005, the site was created to fill a gap in the rugby league market and has grown to become one of the leading rugby league outlets in the UK.

Re-branded to Love Rugby League in 2010, the website and mobile app continue to serve the latest news, features and opinion on the greatest game, as well as providing fans with games such as Fantasy Rugby League, Tipping Leagues and competition giveaways.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll run a number of throwback features looking at some of the events of the past 13 years and the site in general.

It is certainly gone beyond my wildest expectations when the site was started – the dream never was to run it full-time, though over time having a dedicated Love Rugby League office became an aspiration and a reality.

We continue to serve consistent, quality coverage even after 13 years – seeing off a number of competitors and challenges along the way.

It felt like a good opportunity to mark the milestone of 13 and we will enjoy digging through the archives to produce some interesting content over the next few weeks.

Thank you to everyone who has worked on the site over the years – from paid staff to the original volunteer writers, web developers and others; and of course to the fans who keep coming back reading our stuff day in, day out.

Here’s to the next 13!
