11 Championship and League One players charged

Eleven players have been charged following incidents in recent Championship and League 1 fixtures, the RFL have confirmed.

Six players have been charged from the Championship fixture, Leigh Centurions v Halifax played at Leigh Sports Village on Sunday May 10:

Tom Armstrong (Leigh) – Grade B head butting in the 67th minute;
Kurt Haggerty (Leigh) – Grade C striking in the 72nd minute;
Jamie Acton (Leigh) – Grade B punching in the 72nd minute;
Andy Bracek (Halifax) – Grade B punching in the 72nd minute;
Steve Tyrer (Halifax) – Grade C striking in the 72nd minute;
Dane Manning (Halifax) – Grade B punching in the 72nd minute.

Acton, Bracek and Tyrer have until 11am on Tuesday May 19 to submit Early Guilty Pleas (EGP). Armstrong, Haggerty and Manning do not have the option of submitting EGPs and will appear before an independent disciplinary tribunal on Tuesday evening.

Four players have been charged from the League 1 fixture, Barrow Raiders v Oldham was played at  Craven Park on Sunday May 10:

Liam Campbell (Barrow) – Grade C striking in the 79th minute;
Gary Owen (Oldham) – Grade C striking in the 79th minute;
George Tyson (Oldham) – Grade B punching in the 79th minute;
Josh Johnson (Oldham) – Grade C striking in the 79th minute.

Campbell and Owen have until 11am on Tuesday May 19 to submit EGPs. Tyson and Johnson do not have the option of submitting EGPs and will appear before an independent disciplinary tribunal on Tuesday evening.

Gloucestershire All Golds player Brett Scriven has been charged with Grade B striking with the forearm in the 77th minute of the League 1 home fixture against York City Knights on Saturday May 9. Scriven has until 11am on Tuesday May 19 to submit an EGP.

All 11 were charged after the incidents were viewed by the RFL Match Review Panel, which issued a formal caution to Leigh player Greg Worthington for dangerous contact in the game against Halifax.
