Profile:
Luke Patten started his career at Australian side the Illawara Dragons, in 1998, whilst at the club he acquired the nickname the ‘General’. Patten spent just one year at the club, making 13 appearances. Patten then joined St.George Illawara, where he would play for only one season, making 44 appearances. In 2001, Patten joined the Canterbury Bulldogs, where he would spend nine years, playing in every game during 2001,2002, 2004 and 2006 seasons. His time at the Bulldogs was successful as he played in the NRL Premiership winning side of 2004 against the Roosters; he also won Player of the Year in both 2006 and 2007. He scored is 100th First Grade try in the July of 2010. In the same month, Patten announced he would be joining the Super League side the Salford City Reds, signing a three year contract. He played in every one of Salford’s 29 games in 2011, contributing five tries.
