Kite focused on improving

Manly veteran Brent Kite says the Sea Eagles can still improve, despite outplaying much-fancied Souths on Friday night.

The reigning premiers controlled the match in Gosford, outscoring the in-form Rabbitohs five tries-to-one in a dominant 23-6 victory.

The performance was an ominous sign for the other premiership contenders that the Sea Eagles are returning to the form that saw them clinch last year's NRL title.

But prop Kite, 31, says the Brookvale side aren't getting carried away with their good form.

“We’re happy to win a few on the trot, but it’s probably a pleasing thing that there’s work to be done,” Kite told Manly's official website.

“We’re certainly not there yet. It’s just a little bit early to start getting too confident.”

The Sea Eagles' end their season by facing Newcastle and Brisbane at home before a trip to the Gold Coast.

“There’s still plenty of work to be done, but we’ve got a few of the bigger building blocks in place,” added Kite.

“If you’re willing to have a go, you’re usually there or thereabouts.”
