Paul Anderson threatens to drop players

Huddersfield coach Paul Anderson has issued a warning to his players that they will miss games if they don’t perform.

Anderson, who took over from Nathan Brown earlier this season, says his side have not been performing well enough which has made the defeat hurt a lot more than if they were in top form.

He said: “There are some players who will miss out this week and if they miss out it is due to performance.

“There are one or two things that we are trying to identify, it’s been a turbulent time and the results haven’t been great.

!At times you can accept not winning if you know the players have been giving their all because as a team we need to give everything we can, at the moment we can’t say that we have been doing that, which is something that we need to turn round.”

Anderson admits he and his squad have taken his eye off what is important to the Giants’ cause this season, which is achieving the highest league position possible going into the play offs.

Huddersfield currently sit seventh in Super League, five point inside the play off places.

Anderson said: “Maybe I have been guilty of letting the players down in looking at the bigger picture rather than the finer detail and I hold my hands up to that.

“One thing is regardless of where you are in the table or what form you are in you can’t lose the sight of the smaller things in the game. We have tried to highlight some of the real basic things that we have been letting ourselves down on.”

Huddersfield host Catalan Dragons on Sunday afternoon.
