Paul Anderson calls on Huddersfield Giants to pull together

Huddersfield coach Paul Anderson has told his side they need to start playing for each other as the business end of the season approaches.

The Giants sit in seventh place in Super League on points difference with Hull FC, but three points ahead of Hull KR who sit in ninth. 

With Huddersfield threatening to fall out of the play offs following a disastrous run of form that has seen them drop from being league leader contenders, to possibly being absent from the play offs.

Anderson said: “They have got to keep turning up for each other, whether it be in training, on the field or when they are away from the club, they do things together. We have just got to keep turning up for each other. It is a sign of a good team.”

Huddersfield lost to Wakefield on Sunday 35-14 despite being 14-6 up early in the second half. Anderson put his side’s defeat down to the players playing a horizontal game, where the Giants simply didn’t go forward.

He said: “We tried to be a bit too sideways and too clever in what we did, we didn’t build any pressure. At the end of the day it was a period that I thought we could have been a lot better with.

“We were to lateral like a pair of windscreen wipers. At one point we were going from side to side. We didn’t really look to go through them we tried to go round them.

“We managed to get ourselves 14-6 up without really playing but we did let ourselves down in a lot of areas today.”
