Swinton out for Halifax revenge

Swinton have unfinished business when they take on Halifax at The Shay on Sunday (3pm).

The last time the teams met at Leigh Sports Village the Lions were beaten in the last seconds of the game after a performance they reckoned was worth more than a bonus point.

"We want to make amends," said assistant player coach Ian Watson.

"We felt we were a bit hard done to losing in the last minute.

"We will go there with a lot of confidence.

"I know not many teams have won there this year but it's a big wide pitch, just like at Leigh, and we will give a good account of ourselves and hopefully get the win I think we deserved when we last played them.

"It's a big game for us. We came close at our place but now we have to turn those big performances at home into big performances away to have a chance of reaching the play-offs.

"You always know when you play at this level that if you can win away games you have a good chance of getting into the play-offs."

Watson is having treatment on a knee injury while Adam Higson remains doubtful with a similar problem.

Centre Alex Hurst and back row Darren Hawkyard are both fit and available for selection.

Watson added: "We've had to change a few things recently because of injury.

"Martin Ainscough had to go in the centre because of Adam Higson's injury but he did more than a good job against Sheffield's Menzie Yere.

"That brought Chaz I'Anson into stand-off and he played really well.

"The good thing is there are players in the squad who are adaptible and can play different positions.

"That puts pressure on you to perform in your position because if you don't there is someone who can step in."
