Brisbane Broncos players, coaching staff and fans were left stunned when Many Sea Eagles produced a miracle set of six to win 22-24.

The Broncos, leading by two points with two minutes remaining, had the Sea Eagles trapped deep in their own half and victory looked certain.

However former Super League Man of Steel Jame Lyon combined with David Williams to produce a stunning comeback.

Steve Matai broke the Broncos defence to set up Williams’ try, but he was brought down at the other end of the field. Lyon later fed Williams the decisive pass that sealed the game for Manly.

Lyon put the Sea Eagles on the board early before Brisbane responded with tries from Jack Reed, Gerard Beale and Alex Glenn. Matai kept manly in the game with a try just before half time, but the Broncos hit back immediately after the break.

Matt Gillett scored within three minutes of the restart, before Williams grabbed his first 10 minutes later. Gillett scored again just after the hour mark and it looked like Brisbane would keep the two points until Williams’ second try.

Penrith Panthers defeated St George Illawarra 13-12 on Monday night.

Lachlan Coote’s drop goal in golden point extra time was the difference.

Ryan Simpkins and Kevin Kingston scored for the home side, but the Dragons replied with tries from Jake Marketo and Mitch Rein in the dying moments of the 80 minutes.

Gold Coast Titans put their off field troubles behind them for now with a 25-14 win over James Graham’s Bulldogs.

Both sides went into half time with one try apiece provided by Ben Barba for the Doggies, and Scott Prince for the Titans. 

However The Gold Coast started the second half much better with tries from Matt Srama, Jamal Idris and Mark Minichiello. 

Barba scored his second try to keep the Bulldogs in the game, and despite the consolation from Josh Morris, Aiden Sezer’s drop goal sealed the game for the Titans.

Cronulla Sharks upset league leaders Melbourne Storm with a 12-10 victory at Toyota Stadium.

The Sharks brought Melbourne’s nine match winning streak to an end sparking a frenzy of discussion that Cronulla have the potential to win their first ever Premiership.

Cameron Smith’s missed conversion was the only difference as both sides scored two tries apiece. 

Dane Neilsen opened the scoring for the Storm, but the Sharks replied with an Isaac Gordon try two minutes later.

Matt Duffie put the Storm back ahead, and that lead lasted until the 70th minute when Cronulla captain Jeremy Smith crossed. Todd Carney added the conversion to keep Cronulla ahead.

North Queensland Cowboys were too strong for Newcastle Knights winning 32-12.

The Knights scored two tries from Junior Sa’u and Chris Houston inside the first half, but the Cowboys were simply better on the day and ran riot against the home side.

Tries from Ashley Graham (2), Ray Thompson, Michael Morgan and Gavin Cooper was more than enough for the Cowboys. Johnathan Thurston kicked six goals from all six attempts.

Canberra Raiders were just good enough for Parramatta Eels in a high scoring game at Canberra Stadium winning 40-34.

The Raiders managed to get into a 18 point lead on two occasions before letting the Eels back into the game.

The Raiders led 24-6 and 36-18, but allowed Parramatta to narrow the lead.

Reece Robinson and Joel Thompson scored two tries for the Raiders, while Blake Ferguson, Josh Papalii and Jack Whighton added single four pointers.

Ryan Morgan and Ken Sio scored two tries for the Eels each while the fight back fell short despite touch downs from Cheyse Blair and Chris Sandow.

New Zealand Warriors defeated Sydney Roosters 30-26 at Mount Smart Stadium.

Sydney got on the score board after 21 minutes with a try from Joseph Leilui and Aidan Guerra, who crossed the whitewash three minutes later.

But New Zealand fought back and took the lead before half time with two tries from Konrad Hurrell. 

The Roosters scored tries from Tautau Moga, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Anthony Minichello, but the Warriors made Braith Anasta’s two missed conversions count as they scored tries from Shaun Johnson (2) and Manu Vatuvei. James Maloney kicked five goals from five attempts to send the Roosters home without the two competition points.

South Sydney and West Tigers both had byes ahead of the first State of Origin match, which will take place on May 23.
