Sponsorship boost for Jamaica RL

Jamaica's hopes of qualifying for the 2013 World Cup have been boosted by the news of a sponsorship deal worth $100,000 dollars with gaming giant Supreme Ventures Limited.

The funds will be used to assist the national team to participate in the Tri-Nation series in Philadelphia against USA and South Africa, with the winner making it through to the tournament to be held in the UK.

In confirming her company’s sponsorship, Carlene Edwards–Senior Corporate Communications Officer of Supreme Ventures Limited said that, "SVL has been supporting a wide range of sports during the period of its existence, through contributions to the C.H.A.S.E. Fund and from its corporate budget.

"We at SVL regard rugby league as important as it helps to develop team work and camaraderie among our youths. As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we are elated to have made the contribution at this time.  Additionally, we will continue to offer our support, in any way possible to the game of Rugby League. We take this opportunity to wish the national team all the best, as they aim to qualify for the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.”

Rugby League has seen tremendous growth on the island since its inception in 2004, with over 500 hundred participating players in community clubs and educational institutions. Jamaica earned its first international win against Canada in November of 2011 and will play them again on July 31 in Toronto, as a part of preparations for October. Jamaica has played the USA twice, losing to their North American neighbours on both occasion, however, they have never faced South Africa.

Supreme Ventures joins Virgin Atlantic Airlines, Body Bro Gym and the UK based sports company Kukri Sport UK Limited, as official partners for Jamaica’s historic quest to qualify for the Rugby World Cup.

JRLA Development Manager Romeo Monteith believes the journey will be a successful one, as he applauded the support of his ne backer. Monteith said, “We welcome the support of Supreme Ventures as it is really needed at this time. We have a strong team and are confident that they will create sporting history in October. It is important to us, as we seek to inspire Jamaican youth and show that any dream can be realized.
