Rugby League legend Billy Boston will help conduct the draw for the fifth round of the 2013 Tetley’s Challenge Cup on Monday (April 22).
Billy played in six Challenge Cup finals at Wembley during a glittering career with Wigan, for whom he scored 478 tries in 488 appearances between 1953 and 1968.
His link with Wembley will be immortalised later this year when Billy will be one of five players captured in bronze in a statue that will be unveiled outside the national stadium.
“As a player I loved playing in the Challenge Cup, the chance to play at Wembley always brought out the best in everyone back then, just as it does now,” said Billy.
“You don’t need extra motivation when it comes to the Cup, no matter who you’re playing, and I’m sure every player will want to be at their best in this weekend’s fourth round matches.
“I’d like to wish all 32 clubs the very best and am looking forward to seeing which of them are involved when we do the draw on Monday.”
The draw for the fifth round of the Tetley’s Challenge Cup will take place live on the Richard Bacon Show on BBC Radio 5 Live on Monday (April 22) around 3.30pm. The fifth round ties will be played over the weekend of May 11 and 12 with the top tie selected for broadcast live on BBC TV.
