Carmont could reverse retirement decision
George Carmont could yet reverse his decision to retire after fielding offers from clubs in both the NRL and Super League.
Carmont, 34, returned Down Under at the end of the season after 155 appearances in five years at Wigan, and was named in the Super League Dream Team last month.
Since indicating he was rethinking his retirement, Carmont has reportedly been sounded out by the Warriors and also Leeds about returning for another year in Super League, while the NRL's New Zealand Warriors are also keen.
The former Samoa international is due to meet NZ Warriors' general manager of football, Dean Bell, early next week to discuss the club's one year offer.
Carmont's agent, John Mamea-Wilson, said: "George is flattered with the offers but has just come off a long season with Wigan and needs to recharge his batteries, see where his head is at and, of course, what's best for his family before he makes any decisions.
"All the offers came in after he announced his retirement. He's meeting the Warriors because he promised Dean Bell he would when he was in the UK last month."
Carmont previously played in the NRL with Newcastle between 2004 and 2007, scoring 33 tries in 83 appearances.
