Mathers makes Wakefield switch permanent
Wakefield have completed the permanent signing of full-back Richie Mathers from local rivals Castleford.
Mathers, 28, spent the 2012 season on loan at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium, missing just one game all year, and has now signed a two-year deal to complete the switch.
He said: "The feeling I have is one of a big relief. I have been thankful throughout to Wakefield and it was never in question that I wanted to stay because I enjoyed it so much last year.
"To get a two-year deal and represent the club while hopefully playing a big part is something that I really am delighted about."
The former Leeds, Wigan and Warrington player becomes the third loanee to make their move to the Wildcats permanent, following on from Lee Smith and Paul Sykes.
Head Coach Richard Agar said: "Richard had a good year and was integral to what we achieved in 2012.
"He’s a player who has a good standing within the group, is a consummate professional and is a terrific influence on our younger members of the squad."
