No turning back for Carmont

Wigan centre George Carmont still intends to hang up his boots at the end of the season, despite being named in the Super League Dream Team.

Carmont, 34, capped a fine final year in the cherry and white by being named in one of the centre berths in the annual team selection, the second time he has earned that recognition, having also been selected in 2008.

But his form hasn't tempted him to play on another year, and the former Newcastle Knight will return home to Auckland in the winter, after giving five years service to Wigan.

He said: "I've been away from home for 10 years now and I've got to think about my kids and put their interests before mine

"I know I've been saying it for the last couple of years but this year it's a bit different to the way I was feeling last year.

"This year feels different, it's like it's time to go home. I have been asked to stay on but I'd rather finish the game one season too early than stay on one season too long.

"I'm more focused on going home. I think it's the right decision and it would be nice if I could go out on a high."

The Samoa international has made more than 150 appearances for the Warriors, scoring 77 tries.
