Ground guide - Huntington Stadium

Capacity: 3
Postcode: YO32 9PW

The Huntington Stadium, a stone’s throw away from Monk’s Cross retail park, has two stands, one standing and one seated. Views from both are reasonable although the athletics track surrounding the pitch does restrict this somewhat.

When conditions are dry, supporters also congregate on the grass banking to the right of the popular stand which stretches part-way behind the posts. The other side of the ground, which houses the electronic scoreboard, is inaccessible.

The club recently came to an arrangement with the council, which owns the facility, allowing them to operate and generate profit from the function room beneath the Mayfair Security stand. Bar 13, as it is now known, is open before and after the match to supporters serving alcohol, soft drinks and food.

Despite there being stands at both sides of the pitch, all supporters are admitted through the set of turnstiles at the seated end. This can make entering and leave the stadium difficult when a big crowd is in attendance, although getting out of the car park is usually problem-free.

The singing section, complete with drummer, generate a terrific noise in the popular stand with ‘Norris the Knight’ and the extremely excitable PA announcer giving every game a party atmosphere.
